A CLASSIC AND ELEGANT BALLROOM WEDDING AT THE JEFFERSON HOTEL

July 28, 2019

ASHLEY & BOBBIE

Our couples love story begins with a deserted snow covered road near the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. A heavy snowfall left many students to abandon their cars on the side of the ride and return home. One of these cars just happened to belong to Bobbie’s roommate. So without thought, Bobbie, always the kind hearted gentleman, decided to help his roommate to retrieve his vehicle. By chance circumstance, while driving, Bobbie saw a small figure on the side of road, Ashley’s car was in a snowbank. He stopped to see if she was in need of assistance and by his complete surprise, this is how their love story began.

After this brief encounter they parted ways and Bobbie soon realized that he only had her first name… For weeks after, he poured through their school’s directory and Facebook to find her- and with sheer determination and a little luck, he eventually found her. Without any delay, he quickly asked her to dinner. This first date would lead to many more over the years, they soon graduated and would move apart due to careers but they always found a way to stay connected and would travel across the country and the world to be with one another. Bobbie accepted a position with a prestigious law firm and Ashley was completing medical school.

One weekend, they decided to meet in New York City, Bobbie had arranged for a helicopter tour and secretly had a photographer (who posed as a joyful sightseeing tourist) to travel around the city and view the beautiful NYC skyline. While up in the sky, Bobbie proposed with a gorgeous ring and asked Ashley to be his partner for life and marry him.

She of course said YES! And the incredible wedding planning soon began…

Ashley and Bobbie blended their love of fine art wedding photography with classic architecture and chose the historic Centenary United Methodist Church for their traditional wedding ceremony and the iconic Jefferson Hotel in Richmond for their elegant wedding reception. Their Richmond wedding was a classic black tie affair nestled in the Jefferson Hotel’s luxurious grand ballroom. The highly entertaining Roxbury Band kept our couple and their beloved wedding guests dancing into the early morning hours.

Breaking with wedding tradition, they chose to have a “first look” together in one of the beautiful ballrooms at the hotel which allowed them to have time to mingle and enjoy their cocktail hour with guests. There was lots of laughter, great cuisine and lively conversations throughout the cocktail hour and the most heartfelt, tender and funny toasts by their family and friends.

Ashley wore a gorgeous Ines di Santo wedding gown and Bobbie wore a custom designed tuxedo. Beautiful florals were created by Blooms by the Jefferson Hotel and Ashley chose to wear a stunning Stefan Jolie ballgown for the evening reception that was perfectly tailored for their classic ballroom wedding.

Stunning tones of rose, gold, ivory and navy were selected for their wedding color palette that evoked a sense of old world romance coupled with elegance. A perfect blend of modern finishes provided a sophisticated yet discerning palette for our couple who desired a luxurious and fine art wedding aesthetic.
