I’m so excited to share this recent Charlottesville, VA engagement session with you. The evening before I was in Lexington, VA celebrating the gorgeous wedding of Danielle + Lauren at the lovely Big Spring Farms venue. (What a gorgeous wedding venue by the way! It has now become one of my favorite wedding venues in Virginia!) I loaded up my car and headed to Charlottesville to photograph Katie + Gabe’s engagement session at the ever popular Historic Downtown Mall. I was greeted by both Katie + Gabe with all smiles and to my surprise COFFEE! (Thank you guys! I was absolutely love coffee!)
I immediately hugged them both and we started off walking the streets of the Downtown Mall with our coffees in hand, excited to begin our engagement session together. Here are a few of my favorites from our time spent together in Charlottesville.
Katie is warmhearted, beautiful and can easily make Gabe laugh and feel at ease. Gabe is witty, funny and although shy in front a camera, he wanted to create a beautiful experience for Katie for their engagement photos.
We stopped every so often and found the perfect little tucked away spot to photograph, staying away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists and local shopping patrons that were enjoying the break in the rain and enjoying Sunday brunch at their local cafe’s and restaurants.
I have to add that, Gabe was a true gentlemen and insisted on carrying my camera bag for me. How sweet is that?
I instantly fell head over heels in love with these two. They way they interact with each other, is beautiful. They are kind and loving and always going out of their way to make each other feel loved. This translated effortlessly with their engagement photos. We created imagery that had both a relaxed and candid feel, but also, a romance and beauty that went along as well. Truly capturing how Katie + Gabe are with each other.
We then travelled to the nearby ultra hip Charlottesville Graduate Hotel for the second portion of their engagement session. This might just be my favorite hotel EVER! If you haven’t been, I highly insist that you at least visit for lunch or dinner, or just stop in for a coffee. ( I told you- I LOVE my coffee- wink, wink! )
The decor + hotel staff are truly amazing. They created a gorgeous venue in the heart of the University district in Charlottesville. The attention to detail to every space and corner is spectacular. Since this was my first time as well at the hotel (and certainly not my last! I can’t wait for all of our upcoming Charlottesville weddings, can you guess where I plan on staying?! The hotel rooms are truly a gem! So excited!) Katie + Gabe toured me around the hotel to show me their favorite spots.
