This particular high school senior portrait photography session was truly special and stood out among the rest. Connor, a passionate and dedicated surfer, approached his senior photos with a desire for something unique and non-traditional.
His vision was to incorporate a more editorial style, embracing a raw, candid, and photojournalistic aesthetic. We meticulously handpicked a secluded oceanside location in Virginia Beach, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect as we arrived at dusk. The wild, crashing waves set a captivating scene, and Connor’s love for surfing was evident as he effortlessly maneuvered his surfboard through the water.
As we worked on capturing the essence of Connor’s senior year, we attracted the attention of onlookers who mistook our session for a high-profile magazine or fashion editorial shoot. Their genuine surprise upon learning that it was a high school senior portrait session for Connor was heartwarming, and they extended their congratulations and well wishes to him.
When the waves finally settled, Connor made his way back to shore, and we continued to document his unique surf-inspired senior portraits.
It was evident that incorporating his passion for surfing into the session truly allowed his personality to shine through, resulting in portraits that authentically celebrated this incredible time in his life.
